Communication
Communication can be broken down into three simple terms:
Verbal
Non-Verbal
Implied
In this first
section we are going to focus on Verbal Communication. This book will show you how can you better
understand Communication, how you can use it to your advantage and most
important how to take your life to the
next level. I know that’s why you
are reading this, right? To change your
trajectory! So let go and Let’s GO!
Verbal Communication
is one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal. The meaning of words, the way we say them and
predisposed meanings to them all combine to relay a thought or idea. But ultimately they have a much more profound
affect on us our attitudes, our interactions and ultimately our relationships
with the world around us.
And yet, for as
powerful a tool as communication is, we hardly take the time to understand it. Words are the sparks that change lives, and
the way we say them impacts their effectiveness! Like a hammer or a saw, they are used to build
the most amazing things. But used
improperly they can be more destructive than any force. If you don’t believe me, give your hammer to a
unskilled teenager with some anger issues and have him help you out on your next
rehab…
Most of us
understand the basics of what communication is. We have a general understanding of the
difference between non-verbal and verbal. Communication is mostly non-verbal: our tone,
our posture, etc.… yet you’ll notice that we put verbal first. The reason is,
You are constantly talking to yourself.
Verbal
communication is the most important thing to understand because it’s the ONLY
way you communicate with yourself. And
if you understand nothing else, you must come to understand that how you talk to yourself is the most influential thing in your life. How you talk to yourself impacts your
attitude, your perception, your motivation, everything about you! If your thoughts are negative, everything else
about you will be negative. And
negativity will Shatter your dreams faster than a pessimist. (I wanted to say
Spouse)
No one wants to
deal with someone who’s negative all the time! How can you get someone to believe in you when
you don’t? You are incredible and THAT’s
what you want people to see! So Let’s get started!!
Right here. Right now.
You must start a positive conversation with yourself. When you start
projecting a positive attitude to others your influence will increase. If you
want others to see you, to believe in you, to want to deal with you, you need
to have influence or no one is listening.
You have to stop
feeling sorry for yourself because no body cares, and start focusing on the
amazing things in your life. Stop making
excuses no one wants to hear, and start making changes that will provide the
results you are looking for. If you want to be a success, you have to
believe you will be a success and focus on the ways to accomplish that. I can hear you saying right now, “OK, but
HOW??” Easy… Questions!
As always Pete gives great advice in a motivating and very implementable way. I strongly recommend absorbing his words and applying them to your goals. I'm looking forward to reading this next encouraging book!
