Today’s Guest: Martha Aguilera

Martha Aguilera is the owner of Kokolita’s established in 2011. Aguilera worked in retail management and quickly worked her way up to a sales trainer. Her strengths were in team building and sales training and she would frequently be asked to train management teams on how to increase their sales and store morale through developing their teams. Taking all of that experience with her, Martha was able to combine her passions of people, training and baking and established Kokolita’s as a medium to make a difference and do what she loves.

Kokolita’s specializes in Chilean empanadas and cupcakes. Aguilera really wanted to bring everyone that encounters her brand, whether in store or at an event, to an era where the famous and influential people were talented, classy and elegant unlike today where reality TV and media has permitted glorification of offensive, selfish and inappropriate behavior as socially acceptable.

Martha read the biographies of all her favorite 1950’s icons such as Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, Audrey Hepburn and more and after finding out what their favorite drink, dessert, film and hobby was she created a cupcake each. For example Lucille Balls’ favorite treat was chocolate so her cupcake is a triple chocolate cake with a curly red buttercream. The favorite drink of Bill Holden was a mango rum drink with orange juice so his cupcake is a mango rum cake with fresh mango filling and an orange zest cream frosting…list goes on, even a few 21 and over.

Kokolita is Martha’s nickname. When she was about 2 her uncle nicknamed her Kokol, which is a pink round cookie – apparently there was some kind of resemblance. They took it a step further by allowing customers to order a full size cake in any design and in any of their flavors. They even created “Kokolita Corporate” where they personalize their already unique cupcakes by putting a company logo on it for client/employee appreciation gifts. A program for realtors, is also available. This allows businesses of all kinds to stand out to their clients and be memorable every time their product/service is needed.

When Martha’s customers encounter Kokolita’s they’re taken back to an era through their delicious and unique products. They get to share with the youth the difference between then and now and make a difference through their commitment to helping the organizations that need support.
